About Us

Kenny Wax

Founded by producer Kenny Wax in 1995, Kenny Wax Productions is an independent theatrical production company based in London.

Current productions include the Tony Award-winning SIX the Musical which is playing in London’s West End, on Broadway, and on tour across the UK, the US and Australia. It is also playing on Norwegian Cruise Lines. Further productions are planned to open in Korea and Holland in 2023. The studio album received ‘gold’ status in 2021 and is consistently in the album charts. The live Original Broadway Cast Recording album was released in May 2022.

To date, Kenny Wax Productions has produced seven stage shows with Mischief Theatre in London, New York, and on tour across the UK and US: The Play That Goes Wrong (winner of the Olivier Award for ‘Best New Comedy’), Peter Pan Goes WrongThe Comedy About A Bank Robbery, Mischief Movie NightGroan Ups, Magic Goes Wrong (made in collaboration with legendary magicians Penn & Teller) and Good Luck Studio.

New to the stage in 2022 were two new family musicals: Identical, based on the book ‘The Parent Trap’ by Erich Kästner and directed by Trevor Nunn; and Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World, based on the book of the same name by Kate Pankhurst.

Kenny Wax Productions often partners with UK venues and other production companies to bring new, high-calibre work to the stage. In 2022, we co-produced the first ever UK tour of Bugsy Malone – the acclaimed Lyric Hammersmith production, based on the world-famous movie by Alan Parker – with Theatre Royal Bath. With the New Vic Theatre Stoke, we brought the story of WW2's Great Escape to the Alexandra Palace Theatre with the world premiere of Tom, Dick & Harry, and with Cuffe & Taylor, Kenny Wax Productions has created a stage show based on the CBeebies smash-hit Hey Duggee.

Kenny Wax Productions is renowned for producing some of the UK’s best family theatre: We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, Oi Frog & Friends! Live, Around The World in 80 Days, and the Olivier Award nominated stage adaptations of Jacqueline Wilson’s Hetty Feather and Julia Donaldson’s What The Ladybird Heard

Other notable productions include Top Hat (winner of three Olivier Awards including ‘Best New Musical’), Once on This Island (Olivier Award for ‘Best New Musical’) and Jill Murphy’s The Worst Witch (Olivier Award for ‘Best Family Show’).

For television, Kenny Wax is the Executive Producer of two Mischief television specials on BBC 1 (Peter Pan Goes Wrong and A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong) and for both series of their BBC 1 comedy The Goes Wrong Show

Kenny was the past President of the Society of London Theatre (SOLT) - the trade organisation for the West End Theatre industry.
